January 10, 2018

Today, Wednesday 10th, the Thai Polo Open 2018 kicks off at the Thai Polo Club in Pattaya with the encounter of the teams Axus vs Thai Polo. The Thai Polo Open is one of the most important tournaments in Asia and attracts players and guests from all over the world. 2018 the POLO+10 team will join the tournament and final on Saturday January 20th as well again.

Six teams from 10 to 12 goals from Thailand, Maylasia and China, with top argentine players as Agustín García Grossi, Darío Musso and Tomasito Fernández Llorente will attend the Thai Polo Open 2018. Traditionally the final day will be an amazing international event and see thrilling polo matches.

The Thai Polo & Equestrian Club is spread across 250 hectares and provides three full-sized international-standard polo playing grounds. All three clubhouses were designed to the specifications laid out by Mrs Nunthinee Tanner, whose love for polo and all it represents, can be seen in the way the clubhouses are sited and designed, with the aim of allowing guests to be able to watch polo matches in comfort and style. The famous “Chukka Bar” at the Thai Polo Club is a direct replica of the Chukka Bar which used to be a major attraction in the famous Langham Hotel in central London. The Langham Hotel was the first deluxe grand hotel in Europe when it opened in 1865, and the polo-centric Chukka Bar was a key attraction. The original Chukka Bar was closed in 2006, but has been reincarnated at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club, complete with polo trophies, historical photos, and polo paraphernalia.

The 16th Bendura Bank Snow Polo World Cup Kitzbühel 2018 programme starts on Thursday, 11th January, with the team presentations in the heart of Kitzbühel village. Following this time-honoured start, matches will get underway on Friday 12th January and continue until the Final on Sunday, 14th January.

This year the traditional polo event is set to be bigger and better than ever before. Celebrities, polo fans and international polo professionals will gather in the Austrian Alps. Six snow polo teams will battle it out for the coveted trophy in three days of exciting, fast-paced and unique polo.

This year’s instalment will see the support of the Snow Polo World Cup’s long-standing sponsors as well as more recent additions. The 2017 winning Corum team will be back to fight to reclaim the trophy, with exactly the same line-up and the proud support of Swiss watch manufacturer, and official timekeeper, Corum. Alongside this iconic brand, Interior Design firm Bernd Gruber will be back for their ninth Kitz glory attempt as well as 2017 competitors Engel & Völkers, Polo Club Kitzbühel and 2016 newbies, Maserati. As well as leading the charge as main sponsor for this illustrious event, Bendura Bank will be competing as the sixth and final team in this year’s competition.

Event organiser and Bendura Bank team player Tito Gaudenzi said, “Each year this tournament gets better and better, with both the calibre of the players and the ponies improving year on year.
