Zurich/Hamburg – A touch of Hollywood pervaded Zurich‘s The Dolder Grand hotel yesterday when the winners of “The 101 Best Hotels Switzerland, Austria, South Tyrol and Germany 2024” were announced at the “101 Soirée”. Numerous celebrities such as Kai Pflaume, Andreas Caminada, Nelson Müller, Elisabeth Gürtler, Julia and Nina Meise, Irina Cerutti and extreme mountaineer Thomas Bubendorfer took part in the exclusive “101 Soirée”, while Heiko Nieder (2-star Michelin Guide) accompanied the evening with fine culinary creations. Rath, who created the ranking together with his son David. “The 101 Best Hotels” is the first independent and relevant hotel ranking in the German-speaking world. In addition to the opinions of a board of trustees, various criteria are incorporated into the ratings – the IU International University of Munich determines the final winners with maximum transparency, objectivity and expertise. The “101 Iconic Hotelier of the Year” was also chosen for the first time using the same strict criteria. The title went to the charismatic Marco Zanolari, CEO of The Living Circle hotel group, which includes Widder Hotel, Storchen Zurich and Castello del Sole Beach Resort & Spa. “Marco Zanolari is a direct contact for guests like no other, knows how to motivate employees perfectly and creates added value for the company,” says Carsten K. Rath. The “101 Best Hotels in Germany” awards were presented for the fifth time last fall. Next year, the “101 Best Hotels in Switzerland” will also be honored. “I am very pleased about the award and feel honored,” says Marco Zanolari, “especially as ‘The 101 Best Hotels’ is now the ranking of all hotel rankings.” Frank Marrenbach, Managing Partner of Althoff Hotels, adds: “The ranking is well on its way to becoming the Michelin Guide of the hotel industry.”

Hotel set to become the first five-star hospitality project in the year-round resort of Poiana Brasov

Geneva, 5 December 2023 — Situated in the mountains of central Romania, Kempinski Hotels reveals the latest addition to its European constellation: a contemporary ski resort that will transform the town of Poiana Brasov into a must-visit destination for trail-blazing travellers. With 120 guestrooms, Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort will be the first five-star hotel in the Transylvania region and the debut Kempinski address in Romania.

The EUR 70 million project marks Bucharest-based developer Rock Holding’s first foray into the luxury hospitality space after successfully developing a collection of high-end residential projects in the Romanian capital.

“The mountains of Eastern Europe are some of the most spectacular in the world and we are thrilled to have found a new home in the enchanting village of Poiana Brasov,” says Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Group and Chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski AG. “Together with Rock Holding, we hope to bring elevated levels of

luxury to the region’s hospitality scene and provide a truly five-star experience for well-heeled travellers heading to Romania.”

A collection of 120 lakeside rooms and suites in the main hotel will be augmented by extensive spa and wellness facilities that will tap into the healing powers of the mountain landscape, while three dining outlets will showcase the flavours of the Romanian and international cuisine. A conference centre and events space with stunning mountain views provide a blank canvas for spectacular corporate events and summer weddings.

Behind a sleek, contemporary façade, the hotel promises a minimal, naturalistic aesthetic, with natural building materials, flowing organic lines and interiors that reflect the landscape of the Carpathian Mountains.

“Poiana Brasov is without doubt one of the most attractive parts of Romania and holds great development potential,” says Mircea Cotiga, CEO and Founder, Rock Holding. “Our vision for Kempinski Poiana Brasov is to create a luxurious mountain hideaway where visitors can choose to do as much or as little as they like, with a host of in-house facilities and an abundance of outdoor activities at the doorstep. The Kempinski Hotel will provide a luxury accommodation for anyone looking for a slice of paradise in the Carpathian Mountains.”

Poiana Brasov is a gateway to some of the most spell-binding landscape in Central Europe and a magnet for outdoor afficionados. During the long summer days, well-marked trails between lush spruce forests and mountain meadows blanketed in wildflowers draw hikers, cyclists and horse riders, while the snowy peaks lure skiers and snowboarders from across Europe each winter.

“Our growing collection of European mountain resorts reflects the increasing demand from guests for holidays that immerse them in the natural world and provide a blank canvas for active adventures,” adds Bernold Schroeder. “From snow-packed winter ski holidays to adventurous summer escapes, Poiana Brasov provides a year-round destination for outdoor pursuits.”

Guests staying at Kempinski Poiana Brasov mountain resort will have direct access to almost 24 kilometres of ski slopes on the flanks of the Postăvarul Massif, one of the most picturesque areas of wilderness in Central Europe. The nearby medieval city of Brasov is home to gothic churches, cobbled streets and baroque townhouses that evoke the essence of Transylvania. In less than 45 minutes, guests can reach some of the other must-see sights of Romania, including Bran Castle, home of Count Dracula, the fairy-tale spires of Peles Castle and the mighty walls of Rasnov Fortress.

Direct flights from cities including Dubai, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Munich, Stuttgart, Tel Aviv and Geneva serve the new Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport, a 30-minute drive from the hotel, while the larger Bucharest International Airport can be reached in 2.5 hours.

  • Showroom opening of the German family businesses in Palo Alto, California, USA in winter 2023
  • Presentation of private islands (rental and purchase islands) around the globe in combination with exclusive floating villas and yachts that can be docked to the private islands and thus protect nature

Papenburg/Hamburg/Palo Alto, November 2023 The MEYER Group and VLADI PRIVATE ISLANDS are cooperating in the important US market, where they will jointly present private islands in prime locations around the globe as well as floating villas from MEYER Floating Solutions and superyachts from MEYER YACHTS. The two German family-owned companies are also opening a showroom in Palo Alto, California.

Floating villas offer the unique opportunity to live on the water and feel at home on a private island without disturbing the tranquillity of nature. The floating buildings are used in an environmentally friendly way without interfering with nature and are self-sufficient with renewable energy sources. This ideal combination promises unlimited opportunities to explore the impressive beauty of the sea and the lush vegetation of a private island. In this unique combination, private islands and floating villas offer the opportunity to create your own idyllic and climate-friendly living space.

“Floating solutions are manufactured in a protected environment under industrial conditions, minimising the impact on nature during construction and throughout their entire service life. This makes them the perfect and, above all, environmentally friendly addition to a private island, which is often located in pure nature, describes Thomas Weigend, Chief Sales Officer of the MEYER Group.

Vladi Private Islands and the MEYER Group are now teaming up to bring this new and previously unavailable concept to the US, opening a brand new showroom on University Avenue in Palo Alto, California, featuring a wide selection of private islands for rent and purchase, as well as customised floating homes and superyachts. “Through our rental property, Singer Castle in the 1000 Islands River, New York, which receives over 25,000 visitors a year, we are receiving more and more enquiries from island seekers from the USA. That’s why we chose this location on the West Coast as our base and point of contact for our US customers,” explains international island broker Farhad Vladi.

“Private islands offer absolute peace, privacy and a perfect contrast to city life. Having your own private paradise surrounded by sparkling waters is the ultimate island dream for many. It is an island buyer’s wish to leave the island untouched – as much as possible. That’s why the concept of combining private islands and floating homes was born,” says Farhad Vladi.

In addition to the private island portfolio of Vladi Private Islands, the superyacht concepts ONE50 and TWO10 from MEYER YACHTS, both of which have a clean drive system with fuel cells and batteries, will be presented in the showroom. This means that these yachts are also paving the way for these technologies to be used in other types of vessel in the future. The THREE05 concept, a combination of superyacht and floating home, which was recently unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show, will also be on permanent display in Palo Alto. There will also be two more spacious floating villas from MEYER Floating Solutions.

Polo on Mallorca is played in private today, with bidden guests, and behind closed doors. However, unnoticed by the public yet, a lot is changing – Mallorca is getting itself ready to get started as the new European polo destination. What are the reasons? There‘s a lot of them! As much as 17 years ago, Daniel Crasemann, entrepreneur from Hamburg, bought his own polo finca in the East of the Island. The finca accommodates 120 horses at present, which are fit as a fiddle now after their winter break, and are being prepared right now for the chukkas of the European summer season. At the finca of Crasemann, who is just building his second full-size field, friends play amongst themselves – only those invited, of course.

Crasemann is a polo enthusiast. His children learned polo at the polo school of Thomas Winter in Hamburg, and won the German High Goal Championship in 2013, at the ages of 15 and 19. Christian Völkers, his long-standing business partner, has a polo address on Mallorca, too. Uwe Schröder, founder and owner of the Tom Tailor fashion brand is currently considering to buy a polo finca on the island, and also Christopher Kirsch, main German organizer of polo events, has just moved to Mallorca. Bernhard Schurzmann from Munich recently bought a finca, and is building a large polo facility due to start operation in autumn. Geneva banker Fabian Pictet, who used to play polo in England a lot, is now building his own polo finca with a playing field on Mallorca.

But why is polo more topical now than ever before? After all, vast numbers of real or self-appointed polo managers failed on Mallorca, within the past years. This is to do with a regulation of the Mallorcan government. Daniel Crasemann explains: “Until recently, polo and golf were sort of lumped together on Mallorca. That means, a polo field had to fulfil the same requirements as a golf course, concerning irrigation, environment and infrastructure. These demands are unrealistic and impossible to meet, neither in terms of financing, nor organization. This regulation of the ministry of agriculture and transport prevented all commercial polo projects in the past 15 years.” Since that time, Crasemann has been committed to restructuring this regulation and has finally been successful. With this amendment, polo fields are now considered agricultural territory. Correspondingly, the same provisions apply as for farmland. “This changes everything. We can now consider organizing official tournaments here on the island. The major organizer of tournaments in Germany, Christopher Kirsch, is at home here, anyway,” explains Crasemann.

The polo community in Mallorca is growing increasingly, important polo people are already there. Four large private polo facilities already exist, others are under construction. The ambitious goal: Mallorca will be Europe’s polo island.

While, in the European winter, the international polo community still trains in Argentina today, frequently having their own estancias there, the South American country is increasingly becoming less and less attractive (not only to their guests). The flight from Europe takes roughly 17 hours, costs and inflation rate are exploding, real estate transfer tax is as high as 30 %, and the rule of law is uncertain. These are the facts that make business and polo activities a doubtful pleasure. Christopher Kirsch points out: “If I buy a polo horse in Argentina today, I have to pay 8,000 Dollars only for the transport to Germany – with no guarantee, of course, for the horse to arrive there safe and sound.” And climate conditions in Argentina during the high season for polo failed to meet expectations in recent years. On Mallorca, though, the polo season lasts from the end of February to November. The horses are outside all year round, there are nine flights from London every day and numerous flights from Germany, reaching Palma Airport within two hours. In 2014, there has been a 40 % increase in flights to Palma, as against last year. German airlines are offering 23 million seats on flights to and from Mallorca. It is even worthwhile “hopping” there for a weekend.

AdvertisementAdvertisement POLO+10 Real Estate

Thomas Wirth, publisher of POLO+10, mentions another argument, that has been an insider tip up to now: “In the interior of Mallorca, there are fincas and real estates that are available at very reasonable prices.” His and his friends‘ dream is: As many enthusiasts as possible making the new polo Mecca of Mallorca the top address in Europe. It is possible to play on Mallorca all year round. The more horses are on the island, the faster the polo carousel turns and the more attractive it becomes. Because, what is the thing everybody wants most? Play polo! “We could visit one another to play polo, and organize international tournaments – just as it is done in Argentina now.”

While the estates with ocean view in the southwest achieve record prices, exciting polo fincas for affordable prices are up for grabs yet in the rest of the island. The east of Mallorca is where the polo heart of the island beats. The “newcomers” of the international polo scene are currently settling here.

While the cost of real estates with a view of the sea in the Southwest of the island have risen to astronomical heights, several hidden real estate treasures can still be found in the rest of Mallorca. In some of these places, time seems to be standing still. Taking a second look may pay off, here. In many cases, the fincas, which feature stables and the corresponding land, are actually in need of renovation. However, this is the reason why prices are still moderate, and the owner is free to design the finca according to his own wishes. Two new polo facilities are currently under construction. By the end of the year, another three professional playing fields will have been added. Considering the question as to how an interested polo player can find the right real estate on.

Mallorca, the focus is now on POLO+10. On the www.poloplus10.com website, many threads of the sport come together; here, the community meets up – searching and finding complement each other. The POLO+10 website will therefore continue to be at the disposal of those players who are interested in the growing polo community on Mallorca and wish to become part of it with their own real estate. Daniel Crasemann has had his finca in Campos, a place in the Southeast, for 17 years now, and is inspired by Mallorca as the new polo destination.

Please also read the following interviews with Gabriel Company Bauzán, Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Territory in Islas Baleares, and Sebastian Sagreras, Mayor of Campos, regarding the legislation amendment and what this means for the construction of polo fields in Mallorca.

Mallorca: Water Legislation

Some years ago, due to the constant situation of drought that Mallorca was living through, and due to the necessity of bringing water from Catalonia in tanker boats, the idea of transforming old farms into polo fields disappeared. Along with this situation, the change in legislation was implemented, and the law became very strict regarding the construction of sports grounds. Two laws prevented the building of sports grounds: The first one was the agrarian law which hindered the irrigation of these fields, giving priority to the agricultural fields, due to the lack of water on the island. The second law prevented transformation of an agricultural field into a sports grounds. Due to the interest of some foreign businessmen in creating golf courses on the island, there was a great commitment to change these laws. However, the different government bodies didn’t come to an agreement and, depending on the respective political party ruling, there were both in favour of and against a change. Moreover, the drought was still present on people’s minds and they did not want to go through the same situation again.

Finally, they successfully changed the law regarding the construction of golf courses and the use of agricultural water wells to irrigate them. However, this law was not applied to polo fields because they require a larger number of hectares and, thus, a greater amount of water to preserve them. The businessmen who were interested in the construction of polo fields stopped their struggle against these laws because no solution could be found. However, less than a month ago, the law came into force, that enables the construction of golf courses and also includes polo fields. Now, it is possible to transform agricultural areas into polo fields and use the old irrigation facilities for sports purposes.

Thanks to this change in legislation, the interest in creating polo fields has started to increase again. Now, there are facts and not only projects or ideas. Most of Campos’ farms can be transformed into polo fields, a fact that makes it possible for the region to increase the number of its tourist attractions and improve the economic situation in general. The creation of a polo fields not only means the development of a luxury tourism. It also increases employment related to the construction and maintenance of the polo fields, which demand comprehensive dedication in order to play a polo tournament or match. Moreover, polo players, patrons and their families coming to Mallorca ensure a high-quality tourism. The polo audience consists of well-off individuals who consume and improve the quality of the tourist services.

What changes will the new draft agrarian law bring regarding the equestrian activities such as polo?
The draft law includes everything related to the equestrian industry as a strategic sector and it attaches great importance to it. Therefore, all the activities related to this industry are considered as complementary agricultural activities and, thus, they will have many advantages in order to be developed.

How will this new law enable the construction of polo fields in Mallorca?
Polo fields are one of the activities that could take advantage of the new legislation, as long as they are built within a farm whose main activity is focused on the equestrian industry. It is obvious that polo brings important benefits and it might be an interesting option for the farms in order to get a complementary income that allows them to continue their main agrarian activity at the same time that our rural landscape is preserved.

In your opinion, what are the advantages of increasing the number of polo fields and clubs in Mallorca? Do you think it is positive?
Diversifying the tourism offer by promoting the agrarian sector, which controls 80% of the territory, under parameters that preserve and manage our landscape is, by far, positive. The island offers excellent conditions for the practice of outdoor sports at any time of the year and polo is a sport that attracts a very interesting touristic sector that have a remarkable purchasing power.

Interview with Sebastian Sagreras, Mayor of Campos

What does the municipality of Camos have to offer regarding the construction of polo fields?
Campos may actually be the municipality of Mallorca with the best conditions for the construction of polo fields, and there are two main reasons for that: the first one is the fact that it is, in a flat area, which is necessary for the polo fields, and, the second reason is that Campos has always been a livestock-farming municipality. In fact, Campos has been the municipality of Friesian cows par excellence in Mallorca. 20 years ago, there were about 400 dairies here. Nowadays, only 17 or 18 of them are still in use, but the facilities are still standing, although most of them are empty and not working. As a result, there is a high potential for the current use of these existing facilities. There is no need to build new fields or to consume the land, because that has already been done. These two reasons – the fact that Campos is flat and the fact that the dairies’ facilities can be used for the polo fields – make Campos an ideal location for the creation of polo fields. And also because, in a way, polo is a sport that has a strong link to the agricultural sector due to the use of horses and Campos is, probably, the only municipality of Mallorca with an agricultural and livestock history and philosophy.

It might be the prettiest island estate in the world!

In 1958, Lord Glenconner Colin Tennant bought Mustique island for £45,000, even though it had no roads or running water. Today, it is one of the world’s most exclusive and expensive islands. A palatial estate on the island is now for sale at $200 million – the most expensive home to ever come on the market in the Caribbean.

Located on 17 private acres, The Terraces includes nine buildings with a total of 13 bedrooms, nine ensuite bedrooms in the main house, an 80-foot-long swimming pool, many arched windows and doors, and the largest entertainment spaces on the island. There are seven reception rooms, a chapel, and guest cottages where there is another swimming pool. There is a 60-foot tunnel or paths that connect the main house to a 12,000-square-foot building, which includes a huge event hall and game room. There is also a lighted tennis court and a third pool with an infinity edge that appears to send water flowing over the lush hillside. The compound includes almost 53,000 square feet of the main home plus covered outdoor areas.

The estate’s exterior grounds are just as nice as the main home, which include an entrance to the main home with breathtaking fountains that rivals Europe’s best museums, lush plantings, and exquisite views from one of Mustique’s highest elevations, providing postcard-type views of the lush tropical grounds and the Atlantic Ocean’s blue water. According to the estate listing, “The Terraces was designed in a majestic blend of Palladium and Venetian style — a faithful homage to the great 16th-century palaces of Italy’s pomp.” Such as the hand-painted ceiling murals by French artist Jean-Claude Adenin.

Mustique is located in the southern Caribbean country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The country is a popular vacation spot for CEOs and celebrities, such as George Clooney and Kate Middleton. Both Mick Jagger and Tommy Hilfiger have expensive homes on Mustique.

The listing agent is Edward de Mallet Morgan, who is in charge of international sales at the Knight Frank real estate agency.

A favorite actor for baby boomers and one of the highest-paid actors in the world in the 1970s, Steve McQueen was the epitome of cool, both in real life and his movies, including The Thomas Crown Affair, The Great Escape, Bullitt, The Cincinnati Kid and Le Mans. Steve and his equally-big-movie-star-wife, Ali MacGraw, lived in Steve’s Malibu Beach home for a few years in the 1970s, which is now completely updated, just as cool as Steve was, and for sale at $16.995 million.

Recently sold in 2020 by Steve’s son, Chad, and then to songwriter Ammar Malik, (Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”) for $8.35 million, who spent millions to transform the property from a dated beach home to one of Malibu’s best. Located on a bluff to provide the privacy that the Indiana-born McQueen wanted, the four-bedroom home is now California contemporary with over 4,300 square feet, including four bedrooms, dining, and living rooms, plus several wide decks. Huge sliding doors open the first floor, which feels as though it is floating above the ocean, to some of Southern California’s best views from Broad Beach to Point Dume. The primary bedroom sets above the main floor with a soaking tub and large deck. More features include outdoor showers, a fireplace, chef’s kitchen, wood-accent walls and spa bath. A private staircase leads down to the iconic beach.

McQueen lived in Malibu when it was still a remote area near LA popular with surfers and a few actors. Today, Malibu is one of the country’s most popular and expensive beach towns with spectacular mansions and upscale shops.  Still extremely popular with actors, current and former homeowners include Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Stone, Miley Cyrus, Jack Nicholson, Jenifer Aniston, Britney Spears and Cher.

The United States Polo Association is pleased to announce that it has purchased the core assets of the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida (“IPC”). The USPA has acquired 161 acres from WEP Polo LLC and WEP Polo Operations LLC, including Fields 1 through 5, the IPC grandstand, the Pavilion, the Mallet Grille, the Seventh Chukker, the USPA Clubhouse shop, the Outback Field, the Outback facility, and the IPC social club and its facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, and tennis courts.

The IPC property will be called “The USPA National Polo Center – Wellington” (“NPC”).

The purchase brings to life the USPA Board of Governors’ vision of a USPA-owned “Sunday Field” that will serve as the permanent center of polo in America and set the standard for excellence in polo. That vision was first articulated by USPA Chairman Stewart Armstrong in an essay called The Sunday Field that appeared in the Spring 2020 issue of Hurlingham Polo Magazine.

Mark Bellissimo, managing partner of Wellington Equestrian Partners (“WEP”), and Wellington’s largest private landowner, commented, “The sale of IPC to the USPA is part of our ‘Wellington 3.0’ strategy which is focused on strengthening both the equestrian venues and the core lifestyle elements that are critical for Wellington’s long-term success. We chose the USPA over competing offers and real estate development strategies to ensure that this fundamental pillar of the Wellington equestrian domain will be here for the next 100 years. I was inspired by Stewart Armstrong’s vision and believe the USPA has the commitment and resources to take this venue and the sport of polo to the next level which is a win for all involved.”

USPA Chairman Stewart Armstrong and Mark Bellissimo, managing partner of Wellington Equestrian Partners, Tryon Equestrian Partners, Colorado Equestrian Partners, and CEO of Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC signing the contract to purchase the core assets of International Polo Club Palm Beach.

The USPA will continue to host the Gauntlet of Polo® at NPC, but it will also use the facility to support polo played at the medium- and low-goal levels. The USPA intends to keep substantially all the current IPC staff in place. Tim Gannon, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse and three-time winner of the U.S. Open Polo Championship®, will serve as Chairman of the Board of a newly formed USPA subsidiary created to revitalize the social club and hospitality facilities.

With its ownership of the National Polo Center, the USPA has secured a perpetual home for polo in America that will serve the same function as the AAP-controlled Palermo fields and AAP-owned Pilar fields do in Argentina. In short, the facility will enable the USPA to showcase its tournaments, develop American players, and sustain an environment that will retain and attract new players and sponsors at every level. It will also secure the future of winter and spring polo in South Florida, which many of the sport’s key participants from throughout the country rely on as a major source of the annual income that allows them to participate in polo at their summer and fall club locations.

Through its use of NPC, the USPA aims to promote excellence as the goal for all who play polo in America. The USPA is confident that continuing to strive for excellence will lead to even greater demand for polo. Excellence means many things – among them are first-rate facilities to present the sport in the best light, intelligent rules, fair handicapping, quality umpiring, and a level playing field for all. It inspires both amateurs and professionals to be their best and play with the best and it results in an engaging experience for players and spectators. Excellence requires commitment – it doesn’t happen on its own.

The USPA will continue to invest in the sport of polo at its member clubs across the United States. All its current programs will continue to be funded and operated on their pre-purchase trajectories. These include the Arena Tournament Initiative, Bridge to High Goal (B2HG), Interscholastic/Intercollegiate (I/I), Legacy Polo Series, National Arena Amateur Cup, Military Incentive Program, National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS), Polo Development Initiative (PDI), Prize Money Matching (PMMP), Tournament Support Program (TSP), Trophy Reimbursement, the Professional and Certified Umpires programs, USPA Livestreaming, and the Women’s Tournament Incentive Program.

Beginning this year with the Federation of International Polo World Championship, which will be hosted by the USPA at Valiente Polo Farm and NPC from October 26 through November 6, 2022, the USPA plans to open the annual Wellington polo season in October. This expansion of play dates will allow USPA member clubs in and beyond Florida to play their tournament semifinals and finals at the National Polo Center when it is not being used for the Gauntlet®.

“The investment in a high-profile Sunday Field will enable the sport and brand to control our destiny for future generations,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, which manages the global, multi-billion-dollar U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “With a global footprint across 190 countries, we view the Sunday Field as a unique opportunity to highlight U.S. Polo Assn.’s authentic connection to the sport and build additional global brand awareness.  Additionally, this opportunity will create an epicenter of polo to promote not only high-goal events such as the Gauntlet of Polo®, but also other best-in-class opportunities at all levels supporting key polo competitions and demographics, such as international, low-goal, medium-goal, women‘s, intercollegiate, interscholastic, youth and many others.”

Wellington Village Manager Jim Barnes is enthusiastic about the USPA expanding its footprint in the Village. “Wellington welcomes the USPA’s purchase of the former IPC facility and the establishment of the National Polo Center, which will ensure polo’s permanent and important presence in the Village for the mutual benefit of the polo community and Village residents.”

Widely regarded as the winter hub of world-class equestrian competition, Wellington has played a critical role in the development of the sport of polo in the United States and abroad since the 1970s. Every January through April, the Florida high-goal season attracts the world’s top polo organizations, highest-rated professionals, and top horses. South Florida is the home of the USPA and USPA Global Licensing, as well as the Museum of Polo & Hall of Fame and the Polo Training Foundation.
