Launched in 2023 at the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly under the auspices of the French Polo Federation (FFP), the Polo Nations Cup has immediately established itself as the most important early season event on the French international calendar and welcomed three new countries this year: Pakistan, the ancestral home of polo; Belgium, which is making a comeback on the world polo scene; and Italy, one of Europe‘s leading nations.
Ten teams from three continents and six nations: the Polo Nations Cup has taken off. Among the values of the Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly, founded in 1995 by Patrick Guerrand-Hermès, that of friendship between peoples, to which it is attached, is given full expression by this innovative competition.
Over ten days, teams from the United States, Pakistan, Germany, Italy, Belgium and France will compete for this prestigious trophy. The teams will also include some of Argentina‘s top professionals, with famous names such as Tito Ruiz Guiñazu, a regular at the Argentine Open, Simon and Ramiro Zavaleta and Valentin Novillo Astrada, who come from great Argentine families and dynasties that have written the history of the sport.
Playing for South-East France, the PACA team, title holders and 100% French, is made up of three young players, Dorian Bulteau, Louis Jarrige and Julien Reynes, thanks to the loyal commitment of their captain, Jean-Claude Legrand. Other young French professionals will also be taking part, including the talented Elouan Badarello (aged 19), playing for the Americans from Illinois, and Jules Legoubin (Occitanie), who is making great strides this year. And let‘s not forget Elena Venot, a professional female player who holds a key role in mixed teams such as Pakistan, a country she played in last year and a team she is part of in this Polo Nations Cup. Some of these young talents will represent France in the commemorative match of the 1924 Paris Olympic Games against the United States next August.
Kick-off on 13 June with :
France (Rhône-Alpes) – Pakistan, followed by Italy – Germany (Hamburg).
The Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad is a special time in the international polo calendar, an enchanted interlude on the world circuit. A unique world of intense competition and glamour in the heart of the magnificent Swiss Alps. At an altitude of 1,100 meters, in the unusual setting of the Gstaad/Saanen airport, this unique event promises four extraordinary days dedicated to the world‘s oldest team sport.
Much more than a tournament, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad is a unique sporting event and a celebration of equestrian excellence and luxury. The number of teams wanting to take part in the tournament increases every year, making it a daunting task for the organizers to select those who will be lucky enough to set foot on this very special field.
This year, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad will welcome a new team: first of all, a new partner, the prestigious investment bank J. SAFRA SARASIN, whose French captain Françoise Okala will be playing in Gstaad for the first time together with the Argentine Fanelli brothers as well as Horacio Fernández Llorente.
The GSTAAD PALACE will be represented this year by two Swiss brothers, Fabio and Luca Meier, who have often shone in Gstaad: will this be the year? Chances are good as they team up with Argentine brothers Adrian and Raul Laplacette. The latter, who has already won the Hublot Polo Gold Cup twice, knows this particular terrain like the back of his hand.
But the battle will be fierce. Swiss captains Philipp Müller and Cedric Schweri have opted for an all-British squad for their KIELDER AGRO GROUP team, including the formidable Max Charlton, a very fast and responsive player with his English horses. Charlton is an all-round player who shone on the snow in Saint-Moritz and has a handicap of 10 in arena polo! But he is just as impressive on grass: last year he won the traditional Westchester Cup in Wellington (USA), a high-goal match between Great Britain and the United States.
The team of title sponsor HUBLOT and German captain Jürgen Schröder, who was a finalist last year, will also be supported by a sibling pair – there will be four in total at this tournament – brothers Pedro and Manuel Fernández Llorente. The final will be broadcast on Pololine TV and there will be free access for the public, with children‘s play areas and catering.
A VIP experience
The Hublot Polo Gold Cup is not only a top-class sporting event, but also an exceptional experience on the sidelines with a VIP village (open to the public), exhibitors offering exclusive luxury products, the latest models from Aston Martin, as well as the latest model from Dassault Aviation, which will be exhibiting its brand new Falcon 6X at the airport, Albinati Aeronautics, Barnes… and of course Hublot, which will be presenting its new collections.
Celebrate the sport, its conviviality and its festive atmosphere in VIP style, with elegant lunches and refined cuisine prepared by the chefs of the Gstaad Palace, as well as a sumptuous gala dinner with entertainment from the band Dora on Stage.
All you have to do is book your place for this unforgettable experience at www.pologstaad.ch, because the Hublot Polo Gold Cup Gstaad is much more than just a tournament – it is an event not to be missed for lovers of refinement and thrills.

Breathtaking views and vistas from cloud 9 – beautiful rooftops from Amsterdam to Venice
Berlin/London, 1. September 2022 (kms) – Late summer is approaching and with it, those balmy late summer evenings. Fittingly, three meteor showers will produce the greatest number of shooting stars in September. Up to 150 shooting stars per hour can lights up the sky and according to a legend, watching those make wishes come true. Is there any better location to experience this than the beautiful rooftop bars of Hilton in Europe? In these bars, you can enjoy the evening with a cool drink and perhaps you can also send some wishes to the sky.
Croatia: breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea
A breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea, cool drinks, and exquisite cuisine are offered by the Michellin-starred Nebo Restaurant & Lounge by Dani at Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa. Chef Deni Srdoč, who inherited his love of cooking from his grandmother, combines traditional Mediterranean with Croatian cuisine. But before heading to dinner, be sure to sip a craft cocktail, prepared by the expert team of mixologists while enjoying the endless view across the ocean.
Paris: In sight of the Eiffel Tower
Paris, city of lovers, city to fall in love with – and the Eiffel Tower always in view. From the Eylau’s rooftop bar at Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero, you can start the evening with sharing platters and creative cocktails such as „The Balance ton Mojito“ or local craft beers while enjoying the view of France’s charming capital. The hotel of the lifestyle brand Canopy by Hilton is located in the 16th district of Paris, the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, and the Bois de Boulogne are less than ten minutes away. From the bar you can not only get a good view of the Eiffel Tower, one kilometer away, but you also might get the chance to count some shooting stars.
Cologne: 360 degree view of the metropolis at the Rhine
Where else could you gaze across Cologne’s night sky in more style and with more historical ties than at the new Wasserturm Hotel Cologne, Curio Collection by Hilton? The water tower was once the highest in Europe, and today the lobby is eleven meters above the ground. But the highlight is the Bar Botanik on the roof of the water tower. Not only is there a magnificent 360° view, but also there is a wide selection of different drinks, from traditional Kölsch to the hotel’s own Oriental Tea Time. In the unique atmosphere of a botanical greenhouse, where lush greenery meets industrial charm, it is a relaxed place to enjoy the evening, while listeling to cool lounge music from top live DJs.
Italy: Glamour view of Lake Como
Lake Como itself is exclusive already. Embedded in an impressive mountain panorama, its three arms flow together in the resort of Bellagio. Hilton Lake Como offers unparalled views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is a roof-top infinity pool, so you can enjoy the breathtaking views while swimming or enjoying poolside snacks in the summer season. Terrazza 241 is also a magnificient outoor terrace to have breakfast above the rooftops of Como or start a glamorous evening with drinks and upscale dining.
Amsterdam: Enjoy after a day in the old town
Picturesque canals, houses steeped in history – DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station is right on the doorstep of Amsterdam’s old town. Those arriving by train can explore the city on foot. The Royal Palace, the Museumsplein, the old church – everything is in the neighborhood. Back at the hotel in the evening, guest can admire panoramic views of the vibrant capital of The Netherlands. Sky Lounge Amsterdam, which has been elected as the best hotel bar of the city, is on the 11th floor of the hotel and offers cocktails like Sky Spritz or Summer Storm as well as light snacks like avocado with poached egg and seaweed or the classic Croque Monsieur.
London: A cocktail in honor of the ravens in the Tower
It’s considered London’s wildest rooftop bar: Savage Garden at DoubleTree by Hilton London – Tower of London. The iconic castle, which now houses the British crown jewels, is in the immediate vicinity and just a five-minute walk away. While it’s surrounded by pubs, the absolute highlight is atop the hotel itself: the Savage. According to the motto “A little party never killed anybody” – very special parties take place at the Savage. Special parties naturally include special drinks, such as St. Olave, where gin meets an ancient liqueur made by monks, or Raven Master, which was created in reference to the ravens in the Tower.
Venice: The best view of the historic city
Some things seem even more beautiful when viewed from afar, as if you were right in the middle of them: Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is located on the elongated Guidecca Island, which runs parallel to Venice’s main island. It is housed in a former flour mill that is considered Venice’s most important industrial monument. On the roof of the historic building, however, there’s not only a wonderful pool, but also the Skyline Bar, from which you can take in the panorama of the main island’s buildings steeped in history. The city is so close that you can still hear its heartbeat, but at the same time far enough away to perceive it as a whole. Skyline Bar is the highest bar in Venice where guests can treat themselves with delicious and creative cocktails prepared by expert mixologists while enjoying live music.
Prague: See the Old Town from Cloud Nine
“Cloud Nine” is the name of Hilton Prague’s rooftop bar. 40 meters above the Vlatva River, not only one, but two roof top terraces offer a phenomenal view of the Old Town with St. Vitus Cathedral and Prague Castle. The entire city is virtually at the guests’ feet. It is especially beautiful in the blue hour, when the lights of the houses are turned on, but it is not yet so dark that you can no longer recognize the buildings. From Cloud Nine, enjoy the splendid views and cocktails, while soaking up the chic urban atmosphere. And if guests crave a snack accompanying the delicious drinks, they can choose from a variety of sharing platters, perfect for an evening together with friends.

The United States Polo Association is pleased to announce that it has purchased the core assets of the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida (“IPC”). The USPA has acquired 161 acres from WEP Polo LLC and WEP Polo Operations LLC, including Fields 1 through 5, the IPC grandstand, the Pavilion, the Mallet Grille, the Seventh Chukker, the USPA Clubhouse shop, the Outback Field, the Outback facility, and the IPC social club and its facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, and tennis courts.
The IPC property will be called “The USPA National Polo Center – Wellington” (“NPC”).
The purchase brings to life the USPA Board of Governors’ vision of a USPA-owned “Sunday Field” that will serve as the permanent center of polo in America and set the standard for excellence in polo. That vision was first articulated by USPA Chairman Stewart Armstrong in an essay called The Sunday Field that appeared in the Spring 2020 issue of Hurlingham Polo Magazine.
Mark Bellissimo, managing partner of Wellington Equestrian Partners (“WEP”), and Wellington’s largest private landowner, commented, “The sale of IPC to the USPA is part of our ‘Wellington 3.0’ strategy which is focused on strengthening both the equestrian venues and the core lifestyle elements that are critical for Wellington’s long-term success. We chose the USPA over competing offers and real estate development strategies to ensure that this fundamental pillar of the Wellington equestrian domain will be here for the next 100 years. I was inspired by Stewart Armstrong’s vision and believe the USPA has the commitment and resources to take this venue and the sport of polo to the next level which is a win for all involved.”
USPA Chairman Stewart Armstrong and Mark Bellissimo, managing partner of Wellington Equestrian Partners, Tryon Equestrian Partners, Colorado Equestrian Partners, and CEO of Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC signing the contract to purchase the core assets of International Polo Club Palm Beach.
The USPA will continue to host the Gauntlet of Polo® at NPC, but it will also use the facility to support polo played at the medium- and low-goal levels. The USPA intends to keep substantially all the current IPC staff in place. Tim Gannon, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse and three-time winner of the U.S. Open Polo Championship®, will serve as Chairman of the Board of a newly formed USPA subsidiary created to revitalize the social club and hospitality facilities.
With its ownership of the National Polo Center, the USPA has secured a perpetual home for polo in America that will serve the same function as the AAP-controlled Palermo fields and AAP-owned Pilar fields do in Argentina. In short, the facility will enable the USPA to showcase its tournaments, develop American players, and sustain an environment that will retain and attract new players and sponsors at every level. It will also secure the future of winter and spring polo in South Florida, which many of the sport’s key participants from throughout the country rely on as a major source of the annual income that allows them to participate in polo at their summer and fall club locations.
Through its use of NPC, the USPA aims to promote excellence as the goal for all who play polo in America. The USPA is confident that continuing to strive for excellence will lead to even greater demand for polo. Excellence means many things – among them are first-rate facilities to present the sport in the best light, intelligent rules, fair handicapping, quality umpiring, and a level playing field for all. It inspires both amateurs and professionals to be their best and play with the best and it results in an engaging experience for players and spectators. Excellence requires commitment – it doesn’t happen on its own.
The USPA will continue to invest in the sport of polo at its member clubs across the United States. All its current programs will continue to be funded and operated on their pre-purchase trajectories. These include the Arena Tournament Initiative, Bridge to High Goal (B2HG), Interscholastic/Intercollegiate (I/I), Legacy Polo Series, National Arena Amateur Cup, Military Incentive Program, National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS), Polo Development Initiative (PDI), Prize Money Matching (PMMP), Tournament Support Program (TSP), Trophy Reimbursement, the Professional and Certified Umpires programs, USPA Livestreaming, and the Women’s Tournament Incentive Program.

Beginning this year with the Federation of International Polo World Championship, which will be hosted by the USPA at Valiente Polo Farm and NPC from October 26 through November 6, 2022, the USPA plans to open the annual Wellington polo season in October. This expansion of play dates will allow USPA member clubs in and beyond Florida to play their tournament semifinals and finals at the National Polo Center when it is not being used for the Gauntlet®.
“The investment in a high-profile Sunday Field will enable the sport and brand to control our destiny for future generations,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, which manages the global, multi-billion-dollar U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “With a global footprint across 190 countries, we view the Sunday Field as a unique opportunity to highlight U.S. Polo Assn.’s authentic connection to the sport and build additional global brand awareness. Additionally, this opportunity will create an epicenter of polo to promote not only high-goal events such as the Gauntlet of Polo®, but also other best-in-class opportunities at all levels supporting key polo competitions and demographics, such as international, low-goal, medium-goal, women‘s, intercollegiate, interscholastic, youth and many others.”
Wellington Village Manager Jim Barnes is enthusiastic about the USPA expanding its footprint in the Village. “Wellington welcomes the USPA’s purchase of the former IPC facility and the establishment of the National Polo Center, which will ensure polo’s permanent and important presence in the Village for the mutual benefit of the polo community and Village residents.”
Widely regarded as the winter hub of world-class equestrian competition, Wellington has played a critical role in the development of the sport of polo in the United States and abroad since the 1970s. Every January through April, the Florida high-goal season attracts the world’s top polo organizations, highest-rated professionals, and top horses. South Florida is the home of the USPA and USPA Global Licensing, as well as the Museum of Polo & Hall of Fame and the Polo Training Foundation.
